Libreto Privacy Policy

Libreto is a drawing studio, digital notebook, planner, and PDF editor for iPad and iPhone, built and published by JC Mobile App Studio LLC.

Libreto is built so your work stays yours. We don't run servers that hold your content, we don't use any third-party AI service, and we don't track you. This policy explains, plainly, what we do and do not collect.

Short version

Handwriting, OCR, and AI

Libreto's handwriting search, handwriting-to-text conversion, and PDF OCR run entirely on your device using Apple's Vision framework, which is part of iPadOS and iOS. These features work offline and require no internet connection.

Libreto does not use any third-party AI service. Your handwriting, text, documents, and images are never sent to OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or any other cloud model or machine-learning provider. Recognition happens locally on your iPad or iPhone, and your content never leaves your device for processing.

What stays on your device

Your documents, notebooks, planners, and sketches, your preferences (default view, sort order, appearance, app lock), and your cached subscription status are stored locally on your device.

iCloud sync

If you enable iCloud Sync (on by default), Libreto syncs your library through Apple's iCloud to your other devices signed into the same Apple ID, using Apple's CloudKit in your own private database. The data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple, and end-to-end encrypted when you have Advanced Data Protection turned on. We do not have access to it; only you and Apple do. You can turn iCloud Sync off at any time in Settings.

Camera and photos

Document scanning requires camera access; scans are processed on your device and saved as documents inside Libreto. If you import a photo or a sticker, the image becomes part of your document, stored locally and in iCloud if enabled. The originals in your Photo Library are not modified, and nothing is uploaded to any server we operate.

Face ID and Touch ID

If you enable App Lock, Libreto uses Apple's LocalAuthentication framework. Your biometric data never leaves your device and is never accessible to Libreto.

Subscriptions

Libreto Premium is processed through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or Apple ID. Apple shares only whether your subscription is active, whether you're in a trial, and your renewal date, used solely to unlock features. Subscription status is stored on your device.

Third parties

Libreto includes no third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, crash-reporting, or AI SDKs. The only network connections the app makes are Apple's StoreKit (subscriptions) and Apple's iCloud (your own private sync). No data is shared with anyone.

Children

Libreto is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any information from children.
