FlickDrop Privacy Policy
FlickDrop is a price-drop tracker for movies and TV shows on iPhone, built and published by JC Mobile App Studio LLC.
FlickDrop watches the price of the movies and TV shows you care about and tells you when one drops. To send those alerts even when the app is closed, FlickDrop uses a backend server, so unlike a fully on-device app, we do store a small amount of data. This policy explains exactly what we store, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have.
Short version
- We store the titles you track and an anonymous device identifier so our server can check prices and notify you.
- We store a push notification token so we can send price-drop alerts.
- We do not ask for your name, email, or an account to use the app.
- If you choose to post a review, that uses Sign in with Apple.
- FlickDrop shows ads through Google AdMob, which collects some data to serve them.
- We never sell your personal data.
What we collect and why
- Tracked titles and target prices. When you add a movie or show to your watchlist, that title and any target price you set are stored on our backend so our daily price check knows what to watch for you.
- Anonymous device identifier. We generate a random identifier for your install so we can associate your watchlist with your device. It is not your name, Apple ID, or advertising identifier.
- Push notification token. If you enable notifications, Apple gives us a push token that we store so we can send you a price-drop alert. We do not use it for anything else.
- Reviews (optional). If you write an in-app review, we store the rating, the text, and an identifier from Sign in with Apple so we can attribute and moderate reviews. You can use the rest of the app without ever signing in.
What we do not collect
- We do not require an account and do not collect your name, email, phone number, or contacts to use the app.
- We never see your payment details. Any purchase is handled by Apple.
- We do not run our own analytics SDK that profiles how you use the app.
Data stored on your device
Your watchlist and a cache of recent prices and title details are also stored locally on your iPhone so the app loads instantly and works offline. Removing the app removes this local copy.
Advertising
FlickDrop displays ads through Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, Google may collect device and usage information, including a device or advertising identifier. On iOS, FlickDrop only accesses the advertising identifier if you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt; you can decline, and you can change this anytime in iOS Settings under Privacy & Security, Tracking. Google's handling of this data is governed by Google's privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
Third-party services we use
- Apple. The App Store and iTunes provide title information and prices, Apple Push Notification service delivers your alerts, and Sign in with Apple powers optional reviews.
- TMDB. We use the TMDB API for synopses, cast, trailers, and artwork. This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
- Movie of the Night (Streaming Availability API). Our backend uses it to find current rent and buy prices across stores. We send a title identifier, not anything about you.
- Google AdMob. Serves the ads described above.
- Supabase. Hosts our backend database where the data above is stored.
Notifications
Price-drop alerts are delivered as push notifications through Apple's Push Notification service. You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings, and FlickDrop will stop sending them.
Diagnostic information
If you opt in via iOS Settings, Privacy & Security, Analytics & Improvements, Apple may send us anonymized crash reports and performance metrics. These do not contain identifiers we can link back to you, and you can disable them at any time.
Children
FlickDrop is not directed at children under 13 and contains third-party advertising. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your rights and choices
You can remove a title from your watchlist at any time, which deletes it from our backend. You can turn off notifications and decline ad tracking in iOS Settings. If you are covered by the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA, you may request access to or deletion of the limited data tied to your device or reviews. Because we do not collect your name or email, please contact us from the device or include enough detail for us to locate the relevant records.
Data security
Data sent between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit. Access to the backend is restricted, and the data we hold is limited to what is described above.
