WavCast Support

WavCast is one app for podcasts, live internet radio, and local news. It is a client and a tuner, not a catalog, reading open public sources, the Podcast Index and podcast RSS, the Radio-Browser station directory, and public news feeds, and streaming each show or station directly to your phone. Nothing is hosted or rebroadcast, and there is no account to create.

WavCast is free and supported by banner ads through Google AdMob. You can remove them permanently with the one-time Remove Ads in-app purchase (no subscription), or with a WavCast Plus subscription, which includes ad-free listening. Once purchased, ads are disabled on your device.

Open Settings inside WavCast and tap Restore Purchases. This re-applies your purchase from your Apple ID on iPhone, or from your Google account on Android. Restore Purchases requires that you are signed in with the same store account you used for the original purchase. Purchases do not transfer between the App Store and Google Play.

On iPhone, WavCast syncs your library, listening progress, bookmarks, and preferences through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. Make sure you are signed in to the same iCloud account on both devices, that iCloud Drive is enabled, and that both devices have an internet connection. On Android, cloud sync is off by default. Turn it on in Settings, Cloud sync, on each device, then tap Sync Now. Sync can take a moment to propagate. If it still does not appear, force-quit and reopen the app on both devices. iPhone and Android libraries do not sync with each other.

In the News tab you can pick a city manually or tap Detect My City. If you use detection, your phone asks for location permission, one-time on iPhone and approximate on Android, the coordinates are converted to a city name once, and then discarded. The city name is stored on your device, and you can change or clear it at any time.

For a downloaded podcast episode that does not already include a transcript, you can generate one. WavCast uses your phone's on-device speech recognition, Apple's on iPhone and Android's on-device recognizer on Android, so the audio never leaves your device. The episode must be downloaded first, and longer episodes take more time. On Android, if your phone has no on-device recognizer installed, WavCast says so instead of sending audio to a server.

Yes. On iPhone, WavCast supports CarPlay and Lock Screen controls, has an Apple Watch app and Home Screen widgets, and includes a Share Extension. On Android, it supports Android Auto, Google Cast, lock screen and notification controls, a Wear OS app, home screen widgets, and sharing links into the app.

Streams and feeds are hosted by the original broadcasters and publishers, not by WavCast, so a station can go offline or change its stream address on their end. Check your internet connection first. If a specific station or show is consistently broken, email us the name and we will look into it.

Refunds are handled by the store, not the developer. For App Store purchases, visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, find the WavCast charge, and request a refund. For Google Play purchases, open Google Play's refund page and follow the steps for the WavCast order.
