Is it time for a new battery?
Find your number in Settings, then Battery, then Battery Health and Charging. Enter it below with your phone's age and how the battery feels day to day, and get a plain read on whether a replacement is worth it. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
Apple considers a battery worn when maximum capacity drops below 80 percent, which is also the threshold for warranty and AppleCare service. Wear is normal, batteries are consumables.
The quiet case for a battery swap
A worn battery is the single biggest reason an older iPhone feels old. Below roughly 80 percent capacity, iOS may also throttle peak performance to prevent shutdowns, so a new battery often makes the whole phone feel faster, not just longer lasting. A replacement costs a fraction of a new phone and can honestly buy you another year or two.
The math changes if you are upgrading soon anyway. A phone you are trading in within months does not need a fresh battery, the trade-in value barely moves. This tool weighs capacity, age, how the battery actually feels, and how long you intend to keep the phone.
General guidance, not a diagnosis. Check current battery service pricing with Apple or an authorized shop for your exact model.
