Should you install the iOS beta?
Betas are fun until your banking app will not open. We run every iOS beta here at the studio, so this quiz is built from real scar tissue. Answer honestly and get a plain call, not hype. Everything runs in your browser, nothing is saved or sent anywhere.
Whatever you decide, back up first. A fresh backup is the difference between an annoying afternoon and a lost photo library, and you cannot restore a newer-iOS backup onto older iOS.
The honest beta rules
Early developer betas are genuinely rough. Battery drain, heat, apps crashing, and features that appear one build and vanish the next. By beta 3 or so things usually settle, and the public beta is the same code with a safety delay. The release candidate is basically the finished update a week early.
The one-way door matters most: once your data is on the new iOS, downgrading means wiping the phone and restoring an older backup. If your only backup was made on the beta, you cannot use it on the older version. That is why "spare device" changes the answer so much.
