Get your address off the people-search sites
Sixteen brokers, a direct opt-out link for each, and a checkbox that remembers where you left off. Budget an hour the first time, then ten minutes every six months, because they come back.

Not startedBefore you start
- Use a throwaway email address for the confirmations; several brokers add you to marketing lists.
- Search each site for yourself first. You cannot opt out of a listing you have not found.
- Old addresses count. Remove every listing tied to your name, not just the current one.
What these sites actually are
People-search brokers scrape public records (voter rolls, property deeds, court filings, old phone books) and marketing data, then sell a profile with your address, phone, relatives, and age to anyone with a credit card. Opting out does not delete the underlying records; it suppresses your listing on that site. That is why they reappear, and why the six-month recheck is part of the checklist.
Order matters
A few sites (TruePeopleSearch, Whitepages, the PeopleConnect family) are scraped by the smaller ones. Removing yourself from the sources first means the copies go stale faster. The list above is roughly in that order.
Paid removal services
DeleteMe, Optery, Incogni, and Kanary do this loop for you, at $8 to $20 a month. They are worth it if you are a public-facing worker, have a stalker or an abusive ex, or just will not do the manual loop. Manual is free and takes about an hour, which is why this page exists.
Why progress stays on your device
The checkboxes save to your browser's local storage, nothing is sent to this site. Clear your browser data and the list resets. There is no account, because a list of which privacy sites you have visited is itself data nobody needs.
Links go to each broker's own opt-out page and were checked in September 2026; brokers move them often. If a link is dead, search the broker's name plus opt out. This is a checklist, not a guarantee of removal; several brokers re-list people from fresh public records.
