The 2,080 shortcut
40 hours times 52 weeks is 2,080 hours, so a quick conversion is hourly rate times 2,080, or salary divided by 2,080. $22 an hour is $45,760. $50,000 a year is about $24.04 an hour. That shortcut assumes every week is paid, which is true for most salaried jobs and many hourly ones with PTO, and false for seasonal or unpaid-leave situations, which is what the weeks slider is for.
Biweekly vs semi-monthly
Biweekly is every two weeks, 26 checks a year, and twice a year you get a third check in a month. Semi-monthly is the 15th and last day, 24 checks, each one slightly larger. Same yearly pay, different rhythm, and it matters for budgeting on the months with three paydays.
What salary hides
An exempt salaried job pays the same whether the week was 40 hours or 55. If the job routinely runs long, divide the salary by the hours you actually work and compare that to the hourly offer. Hourly with steady overtime at time and a half often wins on paper, which surprises people who assume salary is the promotion.
