Plantilla Privacy Policy
Plantilla is a workers' rights, pay, and benefits companion for iPhone that speaks ten languages, built and published by JC Mobile App Studio LLC. This policy covers the Plantilla app specifically, and supplements the studio privacy policy.
Plantilla is designed so your pay stubs, documents, and personal details stay on your phone. Most of the app works fully offline. A few optional AI features do send text you choose to an AI service, and this policy explains exactly what, when, and to whom, in plain language.
Short version
- We do not run analytics. We have no idea how you use the app.
- Plantilla has no user accounts. We never ask for your name, email, or phone number.
- Your documents, pay stubs, W-2s, forms, tip and PTO logs, incident notes, and vault files live on your device, encrypted at rest. They never sync to a server we control.
- Scanning a document uses on-device text recognition. The photo of your document is not sent anywhere.
- The AI features (Ask Plantilla, HR Letter Translator, W-2 AI, and Benefits AI) are off by default and optional. When you use them, the text you type or the text we read from a document is sent to our proxy and on to Anthropic to generate the answer. We do not store it, and it is not used to train AI models.
- We never sell or share your personal information.
Where your data lives
Everything you create or scan in Plantilla, including documents in the vault, pay stubs, W-2 and W-4 forms, direct deposit details, FMLA and PTO entries, tip logs, and incident notes, is stored locally on your iPhone. Sensitive fields are encrypted at rest. Plantilla does not use CloudKit and there is no Plantilla-side account database, so this content does not sync to any server we operate. Deleting Plantilla from your device removes the local data.
Document scanning (on-device)
When you scan a pay stub, W-2, or HR document, Plantilla reads the text from the image using Apple's on-device Vision framework. The recognized text stays on your phone unless you explicitly send it to an AI feature (below). The document image itself is never transmitted to us or to any third party.
AI features (optional, off by default)
Ask Plantilla, the HR Letter Translator, W-2 AI, and Benefits AI are powered by a cloud AI model. These features are off until you turn them on, after reading an in-app consent screen. If you decline, every other part of Plantilla keeps working. You can turn AI off at any time in Settings, Privacy and Data.
What is sent when you use an AI feature:
- The question you type or speak when you Ask Plantilla.
- The text recognized from a document when you ask the AI to explain a W-2, HR letter, or benefits document. The document image itself is not sent.
- Your selected language and the two-letter code of the state where you work, so answers are accurate for your state's law.
Who receives it:
- Our Cloudflare proxy, operated by JC Mobile App Studio LLC, which forwards your request to Anthropic and returns the answer. The proxy processes requests in memory and does not store request bodies.
- Anthropic (Claude), the AI model that generates the answer. Anthropic does not use API content to train its models.
Neither we nor Anthropic use your messages to train AI models, and nothing you send through an AI feature is kept on our server after the answer is returned. Plantilla has no user accounts; a random 16-character device identifier is used only to rate-limit abuse of the proxy and is deleted after 24 hours.
Because these features send text off your device, do not include information the AI does not need. Before you upload or ask, redact Social Security numbers, account numbers, birth dates, and addresses, including your dependents'. The AI can explain a document without them.
State law updates
Plantilla periodically downloads a small public data file of state labor-law information from jcmobileappstudio.com. This is a one-way download of reference data. No personal information about you is included in the request.
Subscriptions
Plantilla Premium is an auto-renewable subscription billed through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment; we never see your card or Apple ID. Apple provides a transaction receipt that we use only to verify your subscription is active. Subscription status is stored on your device. You can manage or cancel anytime in your Apple Account settings.
Permissions Plantilla may request
- Camera, only when you scan a pay stub or HR document. The photo stays on your phone.
- Photos, only when you pick a pay stub or document image from your library.
- Notifications, only if you enable reminders such as I-9 deadlines, FMLA timelines, or the compliance digest.
What Plantilla does not collect
- We do not collect your name, email, phone number, or contacts.
- We do not use third-party analytics, advertising SDKs, or trackers.
- We do not have access to your encrypted on-device documents.
- We do not retain the text you send through AI features after the answer is returned.
Children
Plantilla is a general workers' rights and productivity app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Your rights
Because Plantilla stores your content on your device and we hold no account data, there is nothing for us to access, correct, or delete on our servers. To remove your data, delete the items in the app or remove the app from your device. If you are a California resident (CCPA / CPRA), a resident of the EU/UK (GDPR), or covered by a similar law, the same applies, and you may contact us with any questions.
Data security
Plantilla data lives on your device, so security depends primarily on Apple's platform protections, your device passcode, Face ID or Touch ID, and your iCloud account security. Sensitive fields are encrypted at rest. We recommend you enable two-factor authentication on your Apple ID and use a strong device passcode.
